Which college major should I take if I want to be a web designer/developer?

I can design and develop. Are you saying there's no major encompassing both?

    Not really ...

Design is more about graphics, graphic software, HTML5, Flash, CSS, layouts.

Development is about "how it works". Server-side scripting, databases, PHP, ASP, AJAX,
MySQL, server functions ... all of the programming software both client side and server side.

Not many of us are good at both, and in the college level, I would say development is
going to be "computer science major", and design will be "graphic arts". A course that
offers both would be more of a Tech School type of setting? Possibly a college like
Full Sail might fit more into both at the same time?

What mlseim said. You're looking at a double major if you're going to pull that off. Not that it's a bad goal, but it probably won't be easy going.

Not only that, you're going to have a problem in that you're going to potentially have to unlearn two different sets of flawed information (design and development).

Personally, I'd suggest going down the development route just because there are lots of people who can draw pretty pictures, but very few good coders out there.

Hmm maybe I can go down the development route, and take graphic design as a minor or something.
