So i was wondering, I am one of those people that loves to makes websites manually by using the famous little Windows Notepad. I was wondering how do web designers make it so there website is viewed without error on every single web browser? I would love if someone could post maybe some:

    Tutorials
    Videos
    Tools

That could help me on my marry way, now you have to remember too, i am a 17 year old, who does not have access to mass amounts of cash, so i would need something either cheap or free, that would allow me to create websites without error, on every single browser available.

    Thanks!

    Rob

    First of all...

www.notepad-plus-plus.org <-- free, and much better than Notepad.

You'll never find a tool, tutorial, or video to do what you want. There are simply too many differences in browser interpretation and too many ways in which to code stuff to avoid errors. The more you build and the better you get, the more you'll mess stuff up. That's just the reality of your situation.

As you create sites, you'll discover that you cut and paste from "past" scripting to the new site.
You'll develop a "skeleton" site that you use to create other sites. Like a personal template.
Your scripting becomes like a signature. Notepad++ is really all you need.

There are tons of code validators out there that are free to use..

Errors mainly come from incomplete code. Learn CSS and the differences between browsers, and you need nothing else to make sure your designs work properly in all browsers.

If you write clean, compliant code that validates and use a CSS reset, that will take care of almost all of your non-IE issues. From there, you'll learn were IE messes things up over time and how to correct it.

http://validator.w3.org/, and http://www.cssreset.com/ are starters tools you can use. You are fearless for using notepad. I don't type that fast, so I rely on code hinting quite a bit. Notepadd++, Aptana and Komodo 6 are free and very good. Without iterating everything mentioned above word for word, this will pretty much sums it up for now.

I have gotten into the habit of not judging other designers/developers work, but this is my Microsoft Meandering time so I'm MEANDERING...
