getting back on topic here, I hate, and wish I could destroy forever, pop- up and pop-under windows! I don't mind sound effects and sounds on the site, I just hate music constantly playing. I also hate it when people use your email addresses in the site to send you SPAM. Thats the killer.

1 question..why the hate for iframes...they seem to come in handy for gallery or portfolio type sites when your trying to keep your design structure intact. What are some of the downfalls of them and what are some good alternatives to them?

Try viewing iframes with IE 5.0 < or NS 4.x < or any other browser. Iframes are good for a closed environment where you can specify the browser (such as an intranet), but not good for the Internet... you're alienating part of your audience.

here is a list of the "supposed" browsers that support iframes:

    Windows
    Internet Explorer 4.0+
    Mozilla 1.0+
    Netscape 6.0+
    Opera 4.02+

    Macintosh
    Internet Explorer 3.0+ (5.5+ on OS X)
    Mozilla 1.0+
    Netscape 6.0+ (6.1+ on OS X)
    Opera 5.0+

    Linux
    Galleon 1.2+
    Mozilla 1.0+
    Netscape 6.0+
    Opera 5.0+

    Unix
    Internet Explorer 4.01+
    Mozilla 1.0+
    Opera 5.0+ (Solaris/SPARC)

    BeOS
    BeZilla 1.0+
    Opera 3.62+

    OS/2
    Opera 5.12+
    WarpZilla 1.0+

From looking at browser stats it seems to be that the majority of people (especially the types of site i mentioned like gallery, portfolio, high design etc) would be able to view them.

isn't that the company that dictates to you what you can look at and do? Who was it that did that before the world wide web? Hitler?

I prefer to use their CD's that I get in the mail as drink coasters. They work great.

As for iframes, I hate sites with frames altogether, they really mess up what you are trying to look at. :-P

I tried that frisbie thing once, but my wife and I are scared that our dog will then take a liking to our CD Music, CD-R Games, amd DVD collection. :-P
