Dark background colors are not suitable for every website.
The main reason is readability. Most people don’t like viewing light text against a dark background on websites because it strains their eyes, making for a much less enjoyable experience.

Don’t try to reinvent the wheel.
Don’t choose a background that can be distracting.
Don’t forget your site must look great on mobile screens.
Don’t clutter the screen.
Don’t settle for basic quality – but don’t go to the extreme either.
Helpful discussion. With all this point, Nowadays making a responsive website is also important. As a freelance web developer while working on any website I must consider the design, background color, Font style, relevant content, responsiveness, loading time, other things.
Love this thread.
DON'T ignore users because you think what do they know about UX
Dont design for yourself design for the end user - Its easy to get stuck in trends of what we as web designers like and think works, but industries and people across industries are constantly changing and different in terms of what they'd like to see online. Its very much "play by ear for me."
Ps to the guy whom mentioned fonts I was using 13 px on my website for years, i one day decided to go to 16px because a person mentioned to me its hard to read, well in a month my bounce rate dropped by 20% and a much higher conversion ratio
( for a year I was missing out on that ) ----- I still think small font looks cool, will I ever use it again? NO
