I'm in a World Civ class that focuses on learning thought technology. My teacher has asked the whole class to split up into groups and develop a website about a country of their choice. The problem with this is that I'm the only person that knows how to build a website.

I have been asked to teach the class how to use a basic online 'drag and drop' website builder. I have experimented with google sites, webstarts.com, and moonfruit.com.

I thought moonfruit.com was the better of the three, but it has trouble uploading images.

Do you guys know of a better online website builder?

Your professor is a bit off-topic don't you think?

Personally, I don't think that the project was thought out very well, and yes, it is off topic.

I got stuck in this World Civ class through bad course scheduling. I'm normally in honors courses that have more thought out projects.

But that is what happens in high school.

Anyways, the plan is to give a presentation on how to use weebly.com. It seems to be the easiest website builder to use.

    Thanks Shovenose for those resources.

Moonfruit is a good website builder tool, however they're still heavily influenced by flash.

This year and moving forward HTML 5 is the webs new alternative to flash. So anyone building a site today should/must have this in mind.

I use http://www.basekit.com as my platform for clients that need a basic brochureware (and very basic ecommerce) site. SquareSpace is also pretty good, although has no ecommerce functionality and is more of a premium blogging platform.

Anything beyond the basics and I use WordPress, or Magento for ecom, with the occasional foray into Drupal if appropriate.

This actually seems like fun. And you get to practice your designing.

I expect that a student would be looking for free, not a limited free trial.

A website like that would require some hardcore flash skills. You won't be able to find a website builder that could achieve that effect.

whenever I come across a site like this ... I just move on, I do not like flashy movie like, pop up in your face websites ... one of the News sites I frequent tried this with some slick car ads ... I stopped going to their site until they stopped doing it.

as for your D&D project ... Yola has a free option I believe.
