I'm a newbie to this forum, and a new web designer also. I am currently completing a lot of volunteer work to sharpen my skills.

My current project is a for a charity that is looking for a website that would allow people to submit poems and stories as a donation.

The person donating needs to be able to add a poem/story and then review it before submitting it for approval to a committee.

These will then be turned into a collection of stories and poems to be sold and all profits will go to charity.

I have looked at Javascript sites, but would like advise on what is the best way to tackle this project.

Can you please advise on what I can use in terms of HTML designs, Wordpress, or even what kind of plugin for a Javascript site will allow a member to submit a story.

    Thank you for your help.

I would certainly use WordPress for a site like this.

There are plug-ins for "user membership", "register", "log-in".
You need to have people register and log-in to submit a poem or story,
otherwise, you'll have spammers submitting junk.

javascript is not a server-side programming language. You'll need to
use PHP along with MySQL for a database. That's what WordPress uses.

I mention WordPress because it's already made, and you can find many
free themes to download and customize. In any case, you'll need some
PHP, CSS, HTML, JQuery experience ... so you may have to find another
person to help you. Someone who will help for free? (maybe not easy to do).

WordPress is not just for blogs anymore, it can be for many different types of sites.

Thank you mlseim. I started with Wordpress, and I'm going through tutorials to learn PHP and JQuery. I'm already familiar with HTML and CSS.

I really appreciate your help. Thank you again.

If you're looking at WordPress for this project, take a look at the BuddyPress plugin - it may be just what you're looking for as far as enabling contributors to post material.
