    Once you've got it all changed, try testing the site. Go to whatever the domain is and see if you can see the site.

    WordPress requires that your web server is running PHP. Your server does not have PHP installed, or PHP is turned off

    one of the steps gave me this

    Whoever your host is, you'll have to contact them to have PHP installed.

    Weird message nowadays, though. I'm assuming you're paying for the host, and pretty much any paid host will allow you to use PHP.

    /** MySQL hostname */
    define('DB_HOST', 'localhost');

    is this alright? or do I have to change local host?

    That should be correct for HostGator.

    They also should have PHP enabled. I don't know why they don't. Maybe it's a cPanel setting or something, although every hosting account I've ever seen with them has it enabled.

    Go into a live chat with them (the live chat is quicker than the phone for some reason, plus you don't have to jam a phone in your ear) and show them the WordPress error message (the one that says PHP isn't installed).

    Support probably did. If PHP was disabled, they're the only ones who could have enabled it.

    The old pages usually need some setting in WP to make them work. I'm not a WordPress guy, though (hate it myself) so someone else will have to pitch in from this point forward.
