    Scroll box position in Android

    Hello,

I have a simple website built with Dreamweaver.

The site is: Lyle Christine - No More Suds

You'll see I have a scroll box on the page. It looks in the correct position when I use Chrome, IE or Firefox to check it.

However, when I checked it on a Nexus 7 tablet running Android, the scroll box was moved out of place to the right. Also, there was no scroll bar.

Could anyone kindly take a look and hopefully explain where I've gone wrong?

    Many thanks for your time,

    Lylio

    Hi Lylio,

I can explain it since it's a fairly common mistake. That's the good news. The bad news is that it will require you to recode the CSS on your site.

Simply put, you used absolute positioning. There's nothing wrong with absolute positioning when you understand what it's to be used for (specifically, when you want to break up the flow of the document on purpose). In your case, however, there's no reason to use it for anything that you're doing. You can just as easily use margins and padding to do what you're trying to do, including centering your page (by the way, it won't be centered across all resolutions the way you've set it up). I'm guessing you used a WYSIWYG editor of some sort to generate those divs (I'm thinking Photoshop)...in which case you're going to have to recode what it's given you.

CSS Centering: Auto-width Margins <-- this is how you horizontally center a page.

Simple 2 column CSS layout | 456 Berea Street <-- this is a two-column layout. Since your peace sign would be its own column, this should help you out.
If I've helped you out in any way, please pay it forward. My wife and I are walking for Autism Speaks. Please donate, and thanks.
