Wordpress Facebook Plugin That I Can Display Anywhere On My Site?

Hey guys I have researching this relentlessly and cant find what I need.

I need a plugin that shows the number of facebook likes my page has, and by that I mean my Facebook Page's overall like count (not how many times a particular post was liked or soemthing like that).

And also I need to be able to insert it anywhere, sidebar, header, a custom hook I make on my website, WHATEVER. Like something based off of a shortcode or script, and not something that just displays likes on the bottom of posts.

    Anyone know of this?

    Thanks

I don't know how to write a shortcode, but this seems to address the issue pretty well.

Or this might help you out - perhaps you could just leave out everything except the "like" button. It seems to me that you could probably use the code anywhere on your site; on a page, a post, or a sidebar widget.

This is a very interesting question and I'm making a note of it to ask at the WordCamp Montreal next weekend - there will be a bunch of Automattic folks there and I'll see what they say.

Also, just to note, in that facebook script you'll see a "ref" attribute, well that's where you can set which page you want the "likes" to be related to. If you leave it blank I believe it will use the current page, but you can hard code it to your main homepage. That way it will only show the homepage likes rather than those from the particular page you're on. However keep in mind that this will _not_ be a sum of all the likes from different pages on your site. I don't believe there is a way to get that.

What Wordpress plugins do you guys suggest for this?

Or do you get some type of code directly from FB?

I'm confused as heck trying to figure all this out.

    Thanks for the advice.

I don't put Facebook on my site. If my clients want it, I'll do it, but only after trying to dissuade them from it. I've never used a plugin for it (I've never done it on a WP site that didn't have it already available in the theme), just hard-coded it into the site.

Also - to Sean - I did ask a couple of people at WCMTL, and got no satisfying answer, although one guy said he'd look into it and get back to me.
