Too Many Choices! Design Programs!! Help!!

    Okay,

I am wondering what my best bet would be to design something similar to Michael's House - Drug & Alcohol Treatment Centers

Are there any programs that would be good for this? I do not want to be writing HTML code - I would like to design using a program that does the HTML for me.

I would also need a program that is capable of doing a "pop-up" window .... so, when you go to the home page, a mini window pops up that says the phone number, or a friendly picture graphic, etc.

The website will NOT need a shopping cart, there are no items or credit card processing, it is more so an informational website - but I really want it to look GOOD. Like the above website. It has nothing to do with that, but the graphics and layout are awesome.Cost is not much of an issue, but I'd like to keep it under $1,000 - and something that would allow me to make many websites with it.

Any help or suggestions? I figure there has to be a lot of programs that are good for this.

I really appreciate any help you guys may have!!!

    Thank you,
    Brian

No...you don't want that. There isn't a substitute on the planet for proper hand coding. There just isn't. No generator, editor, code wizard, or anything else is ever going to outperform quality hand coding. It just isn't...that's reality. Anyone who says otherwise is...well, wrong, full stop, end of statement.

Now, with that said, you're going to see a lot of recommendations for something called WordPress. That's what that site was built using. If you're willing to spend the time and the effort required to maintain a WordPress site (applying patches / updates, moderating comments, adding in plugins, etc.) then by all means go that route. It's free, and it will give you at least most of the code to be able to do what you want.

Notice how I said code...graphics are another issue entirely. I use Photoshop for graphics myself. Others use other things. "GOOD" is subjective, regardless of what you use, so it's hard to make a concrete recommendation.

The "popup window"...if you mean an actual new window, you don't want that either. Most popup blockers will kill them so your user won't see them, which renders them useless from that point of view.

If you mean a dialog box that goes over top of the page with the page sitting behind it for some sort of offer or something, you probably don't want to go down that route either just because they generally don't work and are an irritant to a lot of users because they hinder access to page content.

Why do you want to make "many" websites, anyway? What's your ultimate goal? (I sincerely hope the answer isn't what I'm thinking it is.)

TheGame is right - that site is done in Wordpress.

However, it uses a completely custom theme, and has a lot of extra functionality added to it - possibly by using plugins, but it's also likely that the person who coded the theme wrote the functions into the code. You have to know what you're doing to do that - no software is going to do it for you.
