    I am thoroughly lost.....

    Greetings!

I am more than rusty here. I have Dreamweaver CS3 and know very little about CSS. I do know basic HTML.

I need to create a portfolio website for my artwork that can easily be edited. I think what I want to do is pretty simple, but have no idea where to start. There are 3 pieces that will remain constant and static on all pages. I have a textured background that needs to size to the monitor size. I have a logo that works as a shadow image over top the background on the right side. Lastly, I have the navigation bar contained within a graphic image on the left side. That will be uniform for all pages. I would like text and samples of my work to flow on a transparent layer over the right side. Other than that, I would like the thumbnail images to have a mouse over effect that pulls up a larger image inside a box rather than another webpage.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,
    K

If I were you, I would find a free (or purchase) a premium WordPress theme designed for photography .... like these:
    55+ Attractive WordPress Photography Themes

You can also aim more toward art (objects, paintings, etc):
Wordpress for Artists: Gallery and Portfolio Themes Showcase | ART CULTURE

You won't be using Dreamweaver at all (except for the simple text editor if you wish to use that). You'll have either learn WordPress or hire someone to install it and customize it for you. Once complete, you log-in from anywhere and edit your site ... with easy to use media library and all of the scripting work is done for you.

That's the approach I would take if I were you. It will be cheaper to hire a programmer to install a WordPress site than to script it all by hand.

Thank you for your response. I will definitely check out WordPress and the themes in your link. I don't mind learning new software; but at this point, I am willing to hire someone if it's going to be beyond my abilities.

    Thank you, again!

If you decide to hire someone, post in the Marketplace here - you may find what you need.

If you do that, though, be very specific as to what you want...or at least as specific as you can be. If you're specific, your responses will be fewer but of much, much higher quality.
If I've helped you out in any way, please pay it forward. My wife and I are walking for Autism Speaks. Please donate, and thanks.

If someone helped you out, be sure to "Like" their post and/or help them in kind. The "Like" link is on the bottom right of each post, beside the "Share" link.
