If you're a student and you're creating a web page for your class, then anything you do may not belong to you anyway...if I remember correctly (and I'm not sure) it's considered "course work" and thus it's school property most of the time. There's a reason related to research grants for universities and things of that nature...the students do the real work and the university rakes it in, even though they're allegedly "not-for-profit" (yeah, right). So putting a watermark on it won't protect your intellectual property in this case, because it may very well not be your intellectual property. It sucks hardcore, but unfortunately that's probably your reality.
Image watermarks (the ones mlseim is referring to) aren't totally secure, either. Have a look at this:
