    Location Finder Help

We are a delivery service in So California and are designing a new site. We would like to have a featur on our page where potential customers can find out if we delivery to their zip code. Kind of like those "Locate your store" features, they would enter their zip code and it would tell them yes or no for covered area. Any help with pointing me in the right direction would be a great help.

    Thank you!

What you would need is a database table of all the zip codes you deliver to (MySQL, MS-SQL, or Access will do), and a form that will check against the database for those zip codes (PHP,, ASP, or any other server-side language).

The hard part, depending on how many zip codes you deliver to, would be initial population of the database itself.

if it's only like 6 or 8 zip codes ( pretty big area for most local deliveries, depending on if metro or non metro area )... even up to 10, you could use a simple function of if then else statements...

if it's more than 20 or so, yes, at least some sort of DB would be the best option.

I'm looking to do a very similar thing. The idea I'm going for is the user enters their zip code and a relevant page comes up for that zip code. If it is a smaller town that doesn't have a page then I would like the page for to go to the nearest available zip code within a certain radius. For example, if the user is in Gary, IN and that one doesn't have a page and Chicago is the closest city with a page, then they are redirected there.

I see the suggestions for databases and such, but the problem I run in to is I don't know how to do that. So is there an existing framework that exists that can be edited to fit these specifications, much like you can find shadow box javascript frameworks to work off.

The website hasn't been created so even if this is something that exists in wordpress, but not as a package you can download and implement on another webpage, that would be fine, if not preferable.

Not having the knowledge of databases and PHP, I would really like to find a plug and play like option.

    Thanks for the assistance.
