    3d imagery

im jumping well ahead of my learning setlist here but its been on my mind for a while now so im asking the question (no results in google)

is it possible to make a 3d image, using an iphone or camera?

my idea relates to a car forum i intend to build, on the user profile i had the idea of having your own "garage" with your cars, and speclist etc.

so, my thinking is to get your iphone or camcorder, switch onto video record and walk around the car. then upload to a programme that edits the video creating a 3d image where you can rotate etc... like you might have seen in a need for speed games

    is this possible?

wow ... that would be really advanced stuff. For sure it would require you to have your own server w/software.

is it really that advanced? i mean, i remember seeing a video on youtube maybe about a year ago where for $20 a guy was able to do some sort of 3d function with his iphone. cant actually remember what it was though lol.

i mean take a 3d printer for example, you can get scanners that will scan the object to very accurate dimensions and then print etc...

An iPhone app is not a website.
Software for a 3D printer is not a website.

There are two kinds of "phone" apps.

    1) Native Apps: These are written in specific programming languages the are designed to be downloaded into the phone. Usually the native app author is certified to write the code and their app has been approved by Apple or Android, etc.

    2) Online Apps: These are websites that are designed to be viewed with a "phone" (iPhone, Android, etc). They don't reside in the phone, but are really just a website. They appear to look like an app because you can create a website using JQuery Mobile.

This is an example of an online app using JQuery Mobile:
Default theme - jQuery Mobile Demos

View it on your iPhone, and then view it with a laptop.

i mentioned 3d printing because the scanners can be used to create 3d schematics of an object very easily, my thinking there is that combined with a camera someone could write a programme.

im going to do a bit more research into making a 3d rotatable image from a video file.

guys, knowone steal this idea. its MINE MINE MINE :P
