    Online radio station?

Friend of mine pays a fee to be on a website that allows him to host his own radio station on the web. Is the website he uses pretty difficult to set up? He asked me if id be able to make him a site he could host his station from but i told him that seemed extremely complicated? I figured whatever it was that allowed him to stream live audio would require sum more understanding than i have!?

I have noticed that once one person hears u do web sites EVERYONES askin for a site to be made.. Half the sites im asked to set up r just ridiculous!

It isn't hard. Did it on this one without too much effort. The biggest problem was compatibility. The streaming service he used only supports mp3, and he wasn't into the idea of changing services. FF doesn't support mp3, only ogg and IE supposedly supports mp3, but it's buggy and doesn't work very well, so I ended up making an HTML5 player for Webkit/Blink browsers and just showing the service's flash player for everyone else. Since most mobile browsers are Webkit, it works on mobile as well.

This radio station, Starpoint Radio uses a service they pay for to stream their radio.

With the service they pay for, they are able to use their own audio player.

As Ron says in the previous post,

The player on their main site is Flash, so it doesn't work with some devices.

But the player on their test site is HTML5, so it streams MP4, OGG, WAV to be compatible with most devices.

This is their test site for HTML5 ...

If I remember correctly, this is the streaming service they use:
Free Streaming Programming Feeds for Micro Broadcasters

I got involved with Starpoint because of the "On Air Now" and "On Air Next" schedule script, handled with PHP and Google Docs. They use Google Docs to edit their weekly schedule, and PHP automatically displays the current and future shows on their website.

You might want to look at Listen to radio shows and podcasts on demand, create custom stations, get personalized recommendations & always be up to date. | Stitcher Radio On Demand as well. Among other podcasts, WRESTLING SOUP uses it.

By the way, if anyone wants to listen to an incredibly politically incorrect podcast but one that is laugh-until-you-cry-and-your-guts-hurt funny, listen to Wrestling Soup. They only talk about wrestling about 25% of the time if you're not a wrestling fan (and I am, so that's how I found out about it). They do things like stinging The Snuggle House and making fun of Japanese names (the one cohost is Japanese/Hungarian so it's all good).

Ok i figured the streaming feature would be the biggest problem.. I didn't know if id have to set up something myself that would allow them to do this.. I don't see it much n didn't know if thats because its difficult or i just haven't ran across any.

I am always interested in trying something new but i don't want to promise something i cant do
