    some questions

1... im making a page where i have a background image set as cover. on the left side of the page i have 5 button links and i want to have them with a plain white background from top to bottom with a width of 300px. how do i set it to top and bottom? i thought height: 100%; would do the job but it doesnt.

    2. is it possible to block a site from an entire country? im working on something for a model friend (its a long hau l project) and she doesnt want people she knows finding the site so, could i say, block the ip addresses of everyone in ireland from viewing??

    3. on some sites its like the hover option on a button is on a timer, when you hover over the button it slowly fades to the background, anyone know anything about this? google left me drawing blanks

    thanks guys n gals

    1. Not entirely sure what you're trying to do, but height:100% never really worked that way. I have no idea why. Here's a search that might help you.

    2. Yes. Not sure how.

    3. That would be CSS transitions.

No way to block a country ... IP addresses are not reliable to a geographic area.

You can get it about 99.5% for the free version of MaxMind GeoIP Country Lite and allegedly 99.8% for the full version.

MaxMind - GeoIP Country Geolocation IP Address to Country

I've played with the free version and it's pretty accurate. You won't get everyone, but you'll get most of them.

Now, you won't block everyone from Ireland for the simple reason that not everyone from Ireland stays there all the time. People do move and take vacations. So no matter what you do, this won't be 100% accurate. What I've given you is as close as you're likely to get.

To answer your background question, it's doable if you include the 300 pixel white strip in your background itself and use CSS for the body tag.

yeah people going on holidays and stuff is unavoidable but it will do!!

i fixed the margin issue. if you set the html and body to 100% height you can then set it elsewhere, and to remove the gaps i forgot to set the margin...
