    What colleges did you guys go to do website designing?

    I'm a sophomore in a high school at New York, and I'm interested in going to a college or university to major in Web Design/Developing.

    I wanted to know what schools successful web designers graduated from, but I couldn't find any

    so I'm asking you guys to tell me about the colleges /universities you've graduated from
    thanks

    Im currently in school for Graphic Design. I was required to take a basic web design class for my degree. I am going to a Community College at the moment. I had a low GPA, from being lazy because I actually have high SAT scores!

    Going through the community college I dont think my GPA had a big impact on my acceptance. After i get my Associates i plan to transfer to a university for a Bachelors and possibly a higher degree.

    Ron, how is it being self taught? Did you have a background in a similar field? How do you think it affects you getting clients/job? Reason I ask is because I plan to continue teaching myself coding and was unsure of how much work id find with bigger projects by not having a degree?

    I'm finding that it doesnt matter too much. I'm freelancing, so I couldn't tell you whether it matters for permanent positions. I haven't been turned away for lack of a relevant degree. I have a degree, but it has nothing to do with design or code.

    I have a question, I don't know much about college and degrees as im still in high school.

    my question is,

    am I allowed to take the bachelor's degree program right after i graduate, or am I only allowed to take the associate's degree program and then after I get the degree, move onto bachelor's?

    so like

    high school -> Bachelor's
    or
    high school -> Associates -> Bachelor's

    Honestly I am not sure? I do not believe you can.

    I know you can sign up for a Bachelors program after highschool but i believe you still get your AA first?

    The way i understood it was if i get my AA at the school im at now, id be able to go to a university and spend less time getting my bachelors than if I had signed up for a BA program right out of hs.

    My current situation didnt allow me to look into any other programs other than an Associates program at this time so i am not really the right person to ask. Does your schools not have guidance counselors? They would be alot more knowledgeable? Or try google?

    i researched on it just now and it says that high school graduates can take the bachelor's degree program right after high school.

    it's only masters and doctorate degree that you need a degree previously. I'm only aiming for bachelor's degree so i guess i'm good then.

    Like i said i know you can sign up for a bachelors right out of high school, but i believe you spend the 1st 2yrs getting your AA and then the other 2 getting your BA. That is why I will only have to spend roughly a Yr and 1/2 at a university after I spend 2 yrs getting My AA..

    So if you are trying to get it done faster you may want to look into it more. For me, it would take me less time getting my AA at a Community college and then get a BA rather than going straight for the BA

    Likewise. There were no programs available for web design and development when I first started; the closest thing available was a series of five classes (not a course...five classes that were part of a course) at the university level. I distinctly remember shocking the university professor and several students by putting magenta Arial text on a black background back in the days when most pages were black Times New Roman on a grey background...apparently what I had done was "impossible". Of course, this was back in 1996 and things are a tiny bit different these days.
