    JQuery is javascripting ...
It's a framework where they have tons of functions already created for you to use.

So you are right, with JQuery you just use what you want from their list of functions.

I learned javascript by first learning to manipulate the DOM using jQuery. I know it sounds bass ackwards, but I actually learned to use jQuery first and that helped me learn js overall. I'd tried several times before that to learn plain js, but couldn't wrap my head around it. Once I grasped the "find this, do that" part of what jQuery helps you do "faster" (it isn't always faster), I was able to work my way into actual scripting with js.

I love the comparison! I would only add that jQuery tends to be less frustrating than assembling an Ikea flatpack!

Are you on windows? All versions of windows after 2000 have zip integrated into the OS. Most *nix-based systems also have it built in. If that's no good, 7-Zip is free.

    coleio,

I uploaded the JQuery UI demo to your site:
    jQuery UI Demos

That is the JQuery UI library of user interface examples to try out.

For photo sliders, there are other JQuery demos, but I'm not sure what kind of slider you are looking for.

    EDIT:
If you were to have a directory loaded with Fiat photos, I could build a working demo. The photos should all be the same size (width and height) for the best results.

Example of a car photo slider using JQuery I found on another site:
