Mobile dropdown menu for tablets - a good idea?

I am currently creating website that has slightly different design for mobile, tablets and desktop (with Foundation 5 framework) and while designing site menu i came a cross a choice... do i display the same menu for tablets and mobile devices (three vertical bars icon, when clicked opens link list) or make always visible menu for tablets. Since i dont own a tablet i have no clue which is better. Do i sacrifice screen space for menu (fixed top bar) or make it dropdown.

Currently i have single line fixed top bar that includes logo, user button and menu button. If i wanted to make a always visible menu, i would have to make top fixed bar larger in expence of website content space.

Which is more comfortable, two clicks for navigation or smaller content space?

That all depends on the size of the existing UI. If you can just thin it out, it might work better on tablets, though a hidden menu would be fine as well.
