    Building a simple website with horizontal scrolling

    Hi!

    I want to create a website like this one. .embargo ? mer' salt.
    It's quite simple and it has horizontal scrolling. Up until now, i've been okay with working in a child theme, but there are too many limitations (or i don't know how to use a child theme correctly?)
    Therefore i ask you - how can i make a website like this, but have a bit more control? (i would for example like to add some text (by Mads Lyhne) under the ".embargo home botton", with another size and color, but it seems like it's not possible?)

    I've tried some website building pages like for example Wix, and then i feel too "locked".
    It's not possible for me to start from scratch - i am a novice.

    Should i find a website builder program (and if so - which?) or should i carry on with css coding in child theme?

    Here is the actual WordPress theme they are using:
    http://wpshower.com/themes/expositio/

    It looks like it's free.

    To have total control, you need your own website w/ domain name.
    A shared webhost like GoDaddy.

    Once you get a webhost account, they can install WordPress as your website. It's part of the website control panel.

    You'll then install your own theme.

    It all sounds easy, and it is for people with a bit of website experience. For a novice, I'm not sure how much you know, or don't know.

    actually, the website I was linking to is a website i created with one of my friends. Right now we are just using it as a playground.
    Right now I have the theme installed on a local server (MAMP) and i am playing around with it right now in a child theme and trying to find out how much i can change on the website.

    I have been able to change a lot of the basic stuff (text size, max-height of window etc), but something like adding text on the site only using HTML or CSS, i can't figure out how or if it's possible. I've been searching the web for very long, but maybe i am searching for the wrong thing.

    Can you tell me if it is possible or what i should search for?

    It's a wordpress site ...

    I guess I don't understand what "adding text using only HTML" means.

    You could modify the actual theme files if you know you'll never be "updating revisions" of the theme.
    I'm guessing the theme author never has a revision change anyhow.
    Usually, theme revisions are only used for premium themes that someone pays for.

    I'm not even sure if I understand myself.

    Let me try to illustrate it....

    embargo
    by Mads Lyhne

    Gallery
    Contact
    etc.......

    So, the thing that I want to do is add the "by Mads Lyhne" underneath the "Tangible Photography", but with a different size and color.
    Is that possible in any kind of way?

    Will the text you do be part of a "page" or "post"?

    If so, with wordpress, you can use your own HTML and CSS within the actual content ... when you're using the wordpress admin editor.

    If you're trying to change the text formatting that is generated by the wordpress theme, you have to edit its CSS file.

    You were able to do the text changes on this forum editor ...

    If you look at your HTML ... here is what you did:

    Code:
    Let me try to illustrate it....<br />
    <br />
    <font size="6"><b>embargo</b></font><br />
    <font size="4"><font color="#D3D3D3">by Mads Lyhne</font></font><br />
    <br />
    <font size="3">   Gallery<br />
       Contact<br />
       etc.......</font><br />
    <br />
    <br />
    So, the thing that I want to do is add the &quot;by Mads Lyhne&quot; underneath the &quot;Tangible Photography&quot;, but with a different size and color.<br />
    Is that possible in any kind of way?
