    choosing a university

We occasionally get someone visiting the forums asking about a particular school. Not all schools provide a good experience so they should check them out.

When reviewing a school, itís wise to review several resources, as opposed to simply reviewing one or two review sites. This way, you refrain from basing your decision off a few bad experiences.

    Find reviews on
Yelp, Consumer Affairs, and Grad Reports - a website where students can share their school experiences with other students. I'm sure there are many others, please add any you recommend.

I was surprised that DeVry got such a low rating and that Full Sail was not rated badly on one of those sites.

Just curious and not meaning to go completely off topic but why exactly did those 2 surprise you?

Ive always heard bad things from DeVry graduates. Two people i know have degrees from there and were told if they wanted to continue education they would basically have to start over unless they went back to DeVry.

Full Sail on the other hand i have been interested in previously but in the music side. I have heard great things about their music program at least. Id be more surprised about a bad review. Then again i only spent about a month or so researching it before finding out it was financially out of the question for me and started to look elsewhere. Their costs are pretty insane. I did see somewhere that a degree with them could cost close to the same tuition going to a prestigious school like Harvard but i didnt do much to confirm this so it may be false information. Their graduates who got a job out of school ratio was pretty high? Again that was in music so it may be a different story for other programs.

I have no direct experience with either school. I have met only one person that attended DeVry and he seemed pretty cocky. Didn't say anything about the school but his attitude is what made me wonder about the ratings.

With Full Sail pushing the advertising for online learning so hard with little to back up their claims on their own website at the time made me suspicious of the school, but maybe I should not have been.

So perceptions can be way off and necessitate actually researching the schools reputation to get a realistic picture.

Okay yea i can understand the issue with FS and the online class campaign. I was planning to attend in person which is one reason it was financially impossible for myself.
