How to create an insurance quoting system like ehealthinsurance.com?

    Hi,

I work for a small business in the insurance and financial field. We are constructing a new website and need a quote generating system. We would like to mirror what ehealthinsurance has done: https://www.ehealthinsurance.com/ehi...age=sep-screen

We are licensed in Tennessee and Mississippi so our website and quoting system would be on a smaller scale, but we would like the same general format. I have found purchasable software that could do such a task like norvax or quotit;however, I have not found an option yet that I am confident in enough to purchase. Does anyone have a recommendation for such software? We are a small business and have a limited budget.

Also, has anyone constructed a database or quote software themselves using php and mysql? Would this be a viable means of accomplishing our goal? Or perhaps another method?

    Thanks.

    -Bryan

That link doesn't work. It looks like it requires a session to store the various inputs.

I haven't built anything like that myself using PHP/MySQL, but I have done it using things such as VB.net/SQL server, VB.net/Access, ASP/SQL server, and ASP/Access. The hard part isn't the server side...it's just "store questions, retrieve questions, display question". The hard part is any client-side interactivity; questions that show/hide based on answers to other questions, "prettifying" it, things like that. These guys have probably spent some time and money on it.

The "limited budget" doesn't really tell us much, either. Limited could be $20, and limited could be say $5000-$10000. Every budget has a limit. At any rate, you're probably going to have to aim fairly high to compete with these guys. I worked on a similar project 6 years ago for GM car insurance, and I remember the budget was in the 5 digits, but I don't remember exactly what it was.
