Question Am I choosing the right path?!

So i'm a graphic design major but have recently been informed of many perks of changing my degree over to a Web Development degree. I was just wondering what all you guys have experienced in your careers of working with web development and have there been any really successful start ups i.e. how you went about it.
    Thanks for the time guys.

Do what you love, not what people tell you is better. If you do not absolutely love coding and have a passion to learn more you wont enjoy it.

I am/was a graphic design major as well. While working my way through the program I took a Dreamweaver class n honestly fell in love with coding. My passion for coding is neck n neck with my passion for design. So i started learning more on my own. I said i am/was a design major because at this point I am sort of in the same predicament. I dont know which to choose. Like i said my love for both is about equal. If it were not equal id choose which i loved more and minored in the other.

My advice to you is to make this decision on your own, forget statistics, forget the opinion of others, and ask yourself which one will allow you to wake up every morning excited to go to work.

This. I was going to say the same thing. Before you make any major decisions, get a taste for it. You can check out codeacademy.com to get some good, free hands on lessons in HTML/CSS in the browser. If you fall in love with it like some of us have, then pursue it further.

Thoroughly appreciate the response. I know that my main interest is in Graphic Design so I think I should stick with that. I'm in a Web Design dealing with HTML and CSS right now so I'm getting a touch and feel for it right now. Maybe by the end of this semester of college I'll have a better feel for it so I'm just going to make my decision then. After this semester I will actually have my full degree in graphic design. I was just looking for the career path benefits of Web design OVER Graphic design.
