    Why can't you use FTP.
    That would be so easy.

With PHP, i think you'll have issues with your webhost configuration on filesize and script timeout limitations.

How big is the biggest mp3 file?

Do you have access to your website control panel?
Maybe the webhost can do a zipped backup of the directory.
Then you only download 1 file.

I believe the largest one is a little over 10MB. I don't guess I really have to use php if there is a better way. I'm just fairly familiar with php.

Have you asked your web host about this? Maybe they can do something for you, that is not FTP.

Yes. They have gotten more and more uncooperative as I have used them as a host.

I wish I had a good solution for you, but I can't think of any.

I'm thinking that anything you do "server-side" (PHP or Perl) would end-up with script time-outs and/or file size issues.

Can't you use someone else's computer to do FileZilla FTP? You can't install it on yours, but why not use someone elses'?

Buy a cheap used laptop and do the FTP transfer while you're sitting at Starbucks. Get all of your files, transfer them to some other computer and give your used laptop to someone who can use it. Hundreds of files archived and saved in a safe place .... that would be worth spending $100 on a used laptop.
