    Newletter Options

    Hello All,

I would like to send out a daily newsletter. Nothing amazing but I want it to have some customization. The part I don't get is why it is so expensive. Places like "Constant Contact" are $20 per month which seems high. Other places like NewsletterCreator are $99 for a license. I was wondering if anyone knew a cheap way of publishing a daily newsletter?

    Thanks a lot,
    John

It depends on how many people will be getting it. Shared webhosts put limits on emails per minute, hour, day, etc. So if you have 100 people, you cannot send them the newsletter at the same time. That's why people use a remote service. They do it without limitation.

If you're focusing on the cost, you're missing the other half of the equation...the return.

The reason I say that is because I have a client who uses Constant Contact very well. He has a subscriber list of roughly 8000 and gets at least a 1% conversion on his email blasts. He doesn't do them daily, but when he does, he gets buyers. He switched from MailChimp for that reason. Now, he sells specific collectibles with some dollar markup so it would only take one additional conversion a month to justify the $20...but he got it and then some.

Remember, it's a value proposition, and it's not as concrete as "this costs more, so it's not worth as much." You get what you pay for...sometimes.
