    Of the 2 choices, they're easier to work with in PHP, since PHP parses them into and associative array for you. But, ya, both.

    In fact, you can create a cookie with a PHP script and read it later on with a javascript. A cookie is information stored on the user's browser (PC). A cookie is not server-side. A PHP SESSION is server-side (not the same as a cookie).
