"Proxy Overlay" to Change Website Content

    Hey all,

I have been searching the internet but cannot find a solution, so hoping to get advice on here.

My company was working with an online marketing company for a few months, but didn't work out due to ROI issues. The company had one thing that we really liked, however. What they called a "proxy overlay".

Basically, they had an overlay over our entire website and were able to change images, content, offers, etc. easily and at any time. I like this because we advertise many different offers and items throughout the day and I know exactly when the offer will be seen. It would be nice if I can schedule the website to use a particular sponsor's image from 1pm-2pm that we are advertising with, and maybe a different sponsors image from 3pm-4pm.

Is there anything like this available?

Our websites are custom build by a company using nginx web server and Adobe ColdFusion framework. I would ask the developer to do this for me but would cost way too much. Would be easier if there was a website that we can have them enter a code on my website and I change everything remotely.

    Thanks!

First of all, they're using ColdFusion? That's still around? Wow...no wonder it costs way too much. No one should touch that with a 50-foot pole.

As far as the "proxy overlay" is concerned, it's basic HTML/CSS. Usually it's a series of concentric divs, one for the translucent background and one for the solid overlay. Timing it would require some programming, which is probably where your developer would come into play, unfortunately.

Thanks for the quick reply, TheGAME1264!

I see, I was hoping this was something there was a market for and I could find a website that would be able to do it with a code on my side :/.

Too bad, O don't think it would be worth it to pay a developer to make so many different schedules each day.

Then don't. Pay a developer to build something to allow you to enter the different schedules each day. A good developer could do that fairly easily.
