What's Needed to Build What I Need?

    Hi All,

Not sure if this type of request is welcome here, if not I'd appreciate being pointed in the right direction!

I'm looking to build more of a "tool" per say for a work project. The steps would essentially be:

    1. User inserts certain data points into a running list
    2. Based on values in certain columns, using a hardcoded ratio, values are posted on another page on the site
    3. An "audit" page per say, that pulls data from another database and does checks to see if records exist/numbers match

I know I'm probably oversimplifying it, but any help on how to start would be appreciated!

You may be oversimplifying. Based on what you wrote, this sounds like something you could build a spreadsheet or Access database for. Maybe expand so we get the full picture.

PHP with a database (MySQLi/PDO). Then, a couple of responsive web pages that act as the UI (user interace). Can be run with a smartphone or tablet for operating in the field? Sounds like your project involves people doing something physical and entering data as they go? Like a data collection or inventory type of thing?
