Question How do I create a page jump with a button on my home page?

Hey fellow web designers, this is my first post on the forum. I'm very glad I found this because I can only get so many answers from YouTube...

Just a heads up, I'm using the Avada theme with Wordpress, in case this matters.

I'm wanting to put a page jump link on my home page in order to take the user down to a different section on the page. I've seen developers do this with a text link, but I'd like to use a button. The link will scroll down to a H2 tag.

Would someone mind explaining how to do this? Or point me towards a tutorial? I would greatly appreciate it.

Please let me know if you need any more info from me.

You need to define "button". Is it a button like a submit button? Or a graphic image?

I would say it would be easiest to use <form> with a submit button or graphic button.

Otherwise, it would be javascripting. Not sure because there are different ways to do it, depending on what "button" means.

Also, you want to "scroll down" to an H2 tag. Scroll down as in "scroll the screen", or "jump"? Again, "scroll" can mean different things to different people. Javascripting (JQuery) would be used to visually "scroll" the screen.

And you want to do this to only one time on the page, or click button, scroll ... click another button and scroll to the next one, etc?

I would just style a text link like a button. It's surprisingly easy to do.

I want to create a working example for you, but don't have the time right now ...

Read some of these Google hits and see if any of them are appropriate for you. Some may be, some may not ...

If you can't find the right solution, I'll still try to create something that I know works.

This one looks like it might be a winner:
