    Anchor to Word Doc

    Code:
        <a href="pathtofile\filename.docx">LinkName</a>
Using Office 2013 on Win7 OS; Chrome browser.

Clicking the link or any link to a file other than PDF, opens the Save As dialog. I am expecting to open the actual file.

    Why isn't the file opening?

    TIA

Because you're trying to serve a non-HTML file. Non-HTML files, including PDF, will behave by default according to the manner in which the server is configured and which mime types are associated with them.

If you insist on having the docx open inline (and I'd do the exact opposite), you may want to try what this guy is suggesting. I have not tried the inline option, but I have tried the attachment option and it does work.
