Do I need to use an eccommerce set up for my site idea?

Hey all,

I am aiming to create a website platform that has hundreds of products that can be filtered through and then favourited and saved to an account for users. Each product will have detailed information and links to the brands site. It needs to be clear and easy to use, I need to be able to create lots of filters and categories to search through items.

A site like Lyst.com but with the ability to have information on each product.

What would be the best site builder to use and should I start with an eccommece set up or theme to achieve the above. Or is there another way as it will not be an actual shop.

I am a complete newbie in regards to creating a site that is not a portfolio or anything more than 10 pages and a blog so I am not looking to build something completely from scratch, so a CSM system would be better while I am setting up.
