    seemless repeat of background image vertically aligned to the right

    I have a simple transparent image with diagnol lines that I want to repeat vertically, and aligned to the right.

    So easy enough, I use simple CSS:

    background-position: right;
    background-repeat: repeat-y;

    But my images result in a jagged stagger rather than seemless transition.

    My troubleshooting suspects the image itself is the problem.
    I've opened it in GIMP, and after an hour of messing around cropping and fuzzy selection my eyes hurt and looking for help.
    Here is the image. Where did I go wrong?
