    To create own theme, do I open a rich text document, or text document for a style.css

    Which file do I create a style.css file to. Do I create a new rich text document, or a text document, or create and open with a text editor. like notepad++
    This is to create own theme for wordpress.
    If anyone can help please.

    I use notepad+ for everything. It recognizes file types like PHP and .css ... while editing, it highlights brackets, tags, etc. making it easier to spot missing closing tags.
