    Is there any way I can hide this banner:

    I use free web hosting, and this is the very large, abnoxious banner code that is automatically added to every page of my site. Is there some html or javascript I can use to hide the above banner without changing, adding or deleting anything from it, because I can't ever see the code until I upload my page. So if anyone can help me out, I'd appreciate it. I know It's a long shot that there is any way to do what I described above. For further reference go to http://maidenworld.bravehost.com/bravenetbanner.html

    Thanks.

    I love these free hosting banner problems. If I'm correct, your average banner insertion script is very stupid. Try the following:

    Code:
    <html><head></head>
    <!--
    <body>
    -->
    <body>
    Hello world!
    </body>
    </html>
    If that doesn't work, then you can use CSS and make sure that your content is always larger than the banner:
    Code:
    <html><head></head>
    <body>
    <div class="mycontent" style="z-index: 9001; position:absolute; left:0px; top:0px;">
    <table width="100%" bgcolor="white"><tr><td>
    Hello world!
    </td></tr></table>
    </div>
    </body>
    </html>

    That method didn't work for me until I added this into the head of the page:
    Code:
    <style>
    table {visibility:hidden}
    iframe {height: 0; width: 0}
    </style>
    This stops the table and image displaying but will also stop any tables and iframes you may have from displaying as well. You will need to give those objects a class defined in the style sheet as visible to resolve that.

    Full page:
    Code:
    <html><head></head>
    <!--
    <body>
    -->
    <body><!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
    <html><head>
    <style>
    table {visibility:hidden}
    iframe {height: 0; width: 0}
    </style>
    </head><body>
    <div align="center" style="z-index: 9000;">
    <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" src="http://mercury.bravenet.com/rover/a?dbfile=SPONSORBAR_DB&serv=hosting-sites"></script><noscript>
    <iframe src="http://adserv2.bravenet.com:8080/adserv/a?dbfile=SPONSORBAR_DB&js=false&serv=hosting-sites" width="754" height="90" allowTransparency="true" frameborder="0" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" scrolling="no"><img src="http://adserv2.bravenet.com:8080/adserv/d?dbfile=SPONSORBAR_DB&serv=hosting-sites" alt="" border="0"></iframe></noscript><div style="clear: both;"></div>
    <div align="center" style="z-index: 9000; width: 754px; margin: 5px auto 5px auto; text-align: center;">

    </div>
    <div class="mycontent" style="z-index: 9001; position:absolute; left:0px; top:0px;">
    Hello world!
    </div>
    </body>
    </html>
    EDIT - The host will most likely have terms and conditions that ban you from doing this so it's possible that your account may be closed.

    Thanks for all the thought you've given to my concern. I managed to hide the "free websites"... ..."free templates" table but I couldn't hide the main banner. Could someone please be clear on how I could hide the whole thing? Something I don't think the members above kept in mind was that I can't even see the banner until its published on my site. I can't even select which text I want before and after the banner. It is added automatically when I upload my site. I can in no way customize anything reguarding the banner. So if anyone else tries to see what they can do about it, please don't edit or move the banner in any way, as I cannot do that.

    Thanks.

    I know a simple way to get rid of it:
    go here http://www.100webspace.com/, register an account, and it'll be gone!

    As this is a professional design forum we tend to discuss legal activity openly, so I will not suggest any methods for banner removal when they have the perfect right for it on their servers.

    It looks to be adding the code after the <head> tags so the CSS in there should work. If it's re-writing the head then it's not a host you should bother with for another minute as you won't be able to make any decent pages.
