Well the title basically says it all. I'm thinking of writing a form that needs to be in PHP that at one point would be nice if it can send specific criteria to an ASP form to get parsed and return specific info back to the PHP form, or better yet have the PHP parse the MSSQL database directly. I know XML can be used to transverse data types, but I've never done it. Any suggestions?

    Research these:
    1. WebServices
    2. XML-RPC
    3. SOAP

Soap will probably be enough for what you need, since all you're doing is transmitting data. If you need to execute code at the same time, you'll probably need WS or RPC. Let me know if you need more specific info.

NO SOAP. SOAP SUCKS. HAD THAT IN A CLASS (albeit using java), IT SUCKED ***!!!!!!!!!!

Here's the ASP data I want to use / grab / parse: http://compatible.corsairmemory.com (I know the developer, so getting the variables / hooks isn't a problem).

The form would have to be PHP because it may be integrated into the vB forum at a later date.

Can't remember why I made this thread LMAO!

IIRC, I wanted to have a user select something in a PHP form, which would then somehow grab info from the MSSQL DB, then ship the data back via XML I guess.

SOAP or REST generated XML parsed by the PHP.

    So...

User selects form --> PHP sends SOAP/REST request to foreign server.
Foreign server interprets SOAP/REST request and generates an XML file.
Local PHP server grabs the XML file and translates it as needed.

Pretty much exactly what Amazon Web Services is all about
