"download" links are just like regular links

    Code:
    <a href="download.zip">download.zip</a>
    you can

    a) enter the links manually on the page
    b) use a server-side language like php or asp to go through a certain folder and create the links on the page

Like karinne says, this is the HTML way of doing it.

ZIP-files can't be opened in browsers, and the default browser behaviour (when it encounters an 'un-openable' or unknown file, is to give the option of downloading it.

However, if you present your downloadable file as a JPG, GIF, PDF, PNG, XLS, PPT, DOC, TXT (and so on), then the browser will try to display them through launching the parent application program, or just display it (most images), without showing the download box.

If you want these files to download, you have to use a serverside language, that can manipulate HTML-headers. This is a bit more complex, but not overly so, if you have access to a script language on your server.
