I'm trying to modify W3C's XHTML 1.0 Transitional DTD (document type definition) to add a custom tag. However, when trying to validate the page via http://validator.w3c.org/ , it never downloads the DTD that I specified after checking Apache's access log.

The specification I made in the HTML:
    Code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "XHTML 1.0 Transitional with Super-Secret Ninja Extensions" "http://some/public/url/xhtml1-transitional-ninja.dtd">

As far as I am aware the W3C validator will not go to the specified URL because it isn't in it's list of approved DTDs. I think you'd have to use a different validator. This is from what I've read, at least. Never tried it for myself yet.

    Hey

Try this validator: http://www.htmlhelp.com/tools/validator/ . They claim it supports custom DTDs.

See this page: http://www.htmlhelp.com/tools/valida...fferences.html and especially this page: http://www.htmlhelp.com/tools/validator/customdtd.html .

    Hope this helps.
