    How can my index.html page automatically load a new html page in the same window?
    without any buttons having to be pressed or anything, so it will simply load the next html file (lets call it flash.html)

    The reason I ask this is I have a web counter with an advert (which is very unproffessional) so Id like to quickly skip by it.

    Any suggestions or alternative solutions?

    Thank you!!!

    You mean, you want to redirect your site entry to another page?

    There's a few ways you can do this:

    <meta http-equiv="Refresh" content="4;url=http://www.domain.com/page.html">

    or

    <script>document.location.href='www.domain.com/page.html'</script>

    or

    use a .htaccess or httpd.conf redirect

    for the second on the script attribute if the counter is an image and does not fully load it may not count so try the following:
    HTML Code:
    <body onload="change()">
    then use the following bit of script
    Code:
    function change()
    {
    document.location.href = "flash.html"
    //change document location to flash.html on load
    }
    this way your sure the the counter will actually count

    Thanks both for your useful answers. I ended up using statcounter so didnt think I would need your input afterall. But now Ive discovered that it only counts upto 100, after that you have to pay. So I might need your advice afterall!

    Thank you. I will keep you informed of my progress
