    how do you direct a link to an anchor on a different page to the link?

    Create the anchor on the page:
    Code:
    <a name="anchor"></a>
    and then for the link write this
    Code:
    <a href="pagename.html#anchor"></a>

    i put that but i put a space in between the pagename.html and the #anchor

    Note that, at least in modern browsers, you can use id instead of/along with name to specify the anchor, and you can set the id or name on any tag and it will work fine with an anchor.
