    HI All,

    Iam new to HTML. Iam trying to build a simple personal website. Iam trying to write different texts on an image/button which acts as alink but couldn't succeed. I believe this is a simple problem for experts,I'll be more thankful if some body help me out in this regard.
    Actually,in my web site, a part of the screen (complete left side) will be having navigating buttons/images and the remaining (right side) goes with text.
    I have a .gif file which consists of a button with no text on it and I want to use this button/image multiple times and want to write text like 'Home', 'Next', 'Previous',.... by hard coding.
    I can place navigating buttons/images on the left side and text on the right side, but couldn't understand how to write text explicitly on the button. I succeeded in using these .gif files as background and writing texts on these buttons but to my surprise only half of the file is loading. Itried with all options, like colspan, rowspan etc. I really appreciate if some body help me out. My sample code is:

    <table BORDER=0 CELLSPACING=5 CELLPADDING=10 WIDTH="100%" >
    <tr>
    <td VALIGN=TOP ROWSPAN="3" WIDTH="130" >

    <p> <a href="../My Documents\index1.html"> <img SRC=C:\My Pictures\Sample.gif" border="0"> </a>
    <p> <a>href="../My Documents\index2.html"> <img SRC="C:\My Pictures\Sample.gif" border="0"> </a>
    </td>
    <td ALIGN=LEFT VALIGN=TOP><font color="#348017">

    this is a sample web design.......

    I want to write text on these two buttons which are acting as links.

    Thanks in advance
    Sai

    You need to put the images into the background. For example
    Code:
    <div style="width:100px; height:50px; background-image:url('path/on/server/Sample.gif');">
    <a href="../My Documents\index1.html">test</a>
    </div>
