    I have designed my webpage using tables, which is nothing new to me.

    Here is a copy of my code:

    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"

    <html xmlns="" xml:lang="en" lang="en" >

    <title> - REDESIGN</title>

    <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html;charset=utf-8" />

    <style type="text/css">
    body {color: #000000;
    font-family: lucida sans unicode;
    margin-left: 0px;
    margin-top: 0px;}
    .small {font-size: 60%;
    color: #ffffff;
    font-family: lucida sans unicode;}

    <body background="img/bg.gif" >

    <!-- Start Banner / Menu / Spacer Table -->

    <table width="775" align="left" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" >
    <tr bgcolor="#373737">

    <!-- Start Indian 'Heed' -->
    <td rowspan="2" align="left" valign="top" bgcolor="#373737">
    <img src="img/newheed.jpg" alt="Indian Heed" />
    <!-- End Indian 'Heed' -->

    <!-- Start Banner -->
    <img src="img/bannerbg.jpg" alt=" Banner" />
    <!-- End Banner -->

    <!-- Start Menu Bar -->
    <td valign="top" bgcolor="#000000" >
    <font color="#FFFFFF" face="lucida sans unicode"size="-1" >hello, horizontal menu bar will go here</font>
    <!-- End Menu Bar -->

    <!-- Start Main Content - Left Column (Spacer - Welcome Message) -->
    <td bgcolor="#373737" >
    <font color="#ffffff" face="lucida sans unicode" size="-1">Welcome</font>
    <!-- End Main Content - Left Column -->

    <!-- Start Main Content - Right/Center Column (Spacer - Date) -->
    <td align="right" class="small" bgcolor="#373737">
    Friday 23rd September
    <!-- End Main Content - Left Column -->
    <!-- End Banner / Menu / Spacer Table -->

    <!-- Start Main Content Table -->
    <table width="775" align="left">
    This text should be underneath the banner at the left handside, right below the word 'Welcome'.
    I'm quite experienced with HTML, however I cannot see why my table is appearing at the right rather than at the left
    as described in the previous paragraph.
    <!-- End Main Content Table -->

    The problem is explained better when the web page is viewed. But I shall try to explain the problem here.

    Basically, there are two tables in the webpage, (one above the other) to layout the:

    Top section (logo / banner /menu)

    and the bottom section:

    (main site content)

    However the bottom section is displaying at the right hand side of the page on the same line as the top section and I have no idea why.

    I have checked that all tags are closed, (as far as I can tell, they are.) and can't work out for the life of me what is going wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I have attached a zipped folder containing my webpage and images. Please download it and have a lok as it will be easier to see what the problem is.

    Thanks again.

    Solution... I am not sure at this point in time, you should note however your desired layout is achievable with your current code in Firefox (see screenshot).
