To parse XML in Mozilla using Java Script I use the XMLHTTPRequest object. And to read the text stored between tags I use something like this:
    Code:
    nodes.item(count).getElementsByTagName(tagName).item(0).firstChild.data
The variable "count," is the index of the node that I am searching within, "tagName" is the name of the XML tag that I am looking for. Anyway, this method works just fine in IE (in IE I use the Active X object, but I then pass that through this same code) and Mozilla as long as the text within the given tag is more than 4096 characters. In IE that is no problem, but in Mozilla it truncates any text past 4096 characters. Making the text shorter is not a viable option, I need to be able to read more than 4096 characters without a problem. Is there a solution to this? Also, what is causing it does the XMLHTTPRequest object in Mozilla have a limit?

I need a solution that will work for site visitors not just myself, and I know that PHP is the better way to get to XML but I want my site to use AJAX for dynamic updates. Also, on some of my projects I don't even have PHP so javascript is my only option.

That is really strange, maybe worth trawling through the developers notes to see if this limitation has been logged. Theres loads of bugs with the XMLHTTPRequest in mozilla just now because its just new. Heres a list but I haven't looked through it for your specific problem.

Yea, I just downloaded "XML for <SCRIPT>'s SAX Parser" and I'm trying to learn that. I would still like to have this working though because I don't want to have remake all of my projects.
