    Just as [minicode]!important[/minicode] after a CSS rule makes that rule override any other rules, is there a counterpart that applies the rule only if no other rules are defined?

    For example, I want to apply a border and a background color to a given element, but only if no other rule specifies it already. Sort of like !notimportant, !lowpriority, etc.

    Put it further up on the stylesheet.

    Code:
    <div class="lightbox bordered">
    this might be bordered
    </div>

    ...

    .bordered{ border:1px solid red; }

    .lightbox{ border:1px solid blue; }

    -or-

    .myspecialclass #lala .bordered{border:none;}
