display problem in firefox and opera

I created a template page using tables and I use a 3x3 table and this is what I do to create a look of a box with curved edges:

1st row 1st col : use an image (Does not display in opera)
1st row 2nd col : use an image as a background (repeat x-axis)
1st row 3rd col : use an image (Does not display in opera)

2nd row 1st col : use an image as a background (repeat y-axis)
2nd row 2nd col : Center cell set background color which fails in firefox and opera
2nd row 3rd col : use an image as a background (repeat y-axis)

3rd row 1st col : use an image (Does not display in opera)
3rd row 2nd col : use an image as a background (repeat x-axis)
3rd row 3rd col : use an image (Does not display in opera)

It looks fine in firefox, but the bottom is shortened. Not a big problem, just a minor annoyance.

Plus, in IE, the circuit city ad gets half hidden behind your content and it looks funky.

in firefox don't you get mismatch in color in text parts are grey and otehr parts are white, when you see it in IE you will see that the entire table is while whereas the display breaks in firefox and the background color of the page overlaps in certain areas to reveal a gray where it should be white
