    I have an example site... good old wikipedia.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Webdesign

    I have the standard 3 column layout, i want the middle column to expand and retract with the page with the left and right columns staying fixed.

    Help on this is obviously much apprieciated.

    Currently my only CSS is my container

    Code:
    #container {
    width: 800px;
    margin-right: auto;
    margin-left: auto;
    text-align: left;
    height: 100%;
    }
    and left, middle and right have relative positioning and set widths.

    have you try using

    Code:
    height:auto;
    just leave the other two columns as fixed heights..

    I am trying to sort out the width, if i set the middle width to auto then it pushes out the other 2 and they basically stack virtically.

    Heres a link to what i have at the moment, www.jasonstanley.co.uk/god/index.html
