Kind of a random question, but does anyone know of a service that can provide a definition of a given word as XML?

I want to be able to classify the types of word - adverb, noun, etc. - in a given sentence.

I stumbled across a site that shows how to fetch dictionary definitions via AJAX just today. It may well be using a service you can use, as well.
