I'm voluntarily making a site for someone, and I'm just getting the outline design sorted. He wants a design that fills the viewport (I've managed to do that), and I've used faux columns for the navigation bit.

There's a problem though, again with height. I had a solution before that only worked in Firefox (thanks, IE), since IE doesn't seem to know how to calculate percentages properly.

Anyway, unless the content of the page is long enough to force the browser to scroll, it leaves a huge gap at the bottom of the page, as you can see in the link provided (everything's colour coded so I can see what's happening).

Is there a solution to this?

It's that, but also for the main content div to stretch to the bottom. I've implemented the CSS in that link you posted, which has stuck the footer at the bottom, but the rest of the page is still what it was before.
