I'm looking for a WYSIWYG HTML editor that doesn't suck.

    * needs to run on OS X, prefereably without using X11
    * Shouldn't add extra code. When I make a table, the damn table should NOT have extra attributes (style=, border=, etc) and should NOT trigger CSS generation. I want raw HTML output, ugly and clean.

When you find one, tell the leprechaun riding the unicorn next to it, that bigfoot is throwing a birthday party for the loc ness monster and everybody from santa clause to the easter bunny is going to be there.

    In other words keep dreaming.

All the editors I know of bloat their markup with unessesary tidbits.

Alternatively, use whatever one you have already, and edit the code manually to remove the gubbins.

As has been mentioned, you're not gonna have much luck finding a program that does exactly what you want.

dreamweaver is prety good. i use it mainly in code view cause it figures out what your going to type before you've finnished typing it. i dont think that adds anything to the table unless you tell it to. you've got to pay for it though i got my copy from school.

Quanta+ seems to be pretty good about keeping code not bloated, but it's Linux-only for the time being, and I'm not sure how good it is in terms of usability. I've only toyed with the WYSIWYG stuff on it once or twice out of curiosity.

I recommend NVU it is decent enough to produce pages, free and open source... Quite a lot of support for it also.
