    Hi there! i know how to set up a html form. However, once the user has entered the information (email address) and pressed the submit button, i would then like it to go to a new page where they can download one of my products. Does anyone know what code i can associate with the submit button in order to do this?

    thanks all!

    Well, where does your form currently go for processing? i.e., what's in the `action' attribute of your form?

    the code i have used is as follows -

    <form action="MAILTO:glen_simister@yahoo.co.uk" method="post" enctype="text/plain">

    <h3>Please fill out this short form in order to download your free instrumentals.
    </h3>
    Enter your email address:<br>
    <input type="text" name=""
    value="email" size="20" onChange="return ValidateForm()">
    <br>
    Comment:<br>

    <label>Please feel free to make any comments about our products, terms and conditions etc.

    <textarea name="comments" cols="40" rows="10"></textarea>
    </label>
    <br><br>
    <input type="submit" value="Send">
    <input type="reset" value="Reset">

    </form>

    I bascially want the form data to go to my email address. I then want a new page to open up where the user can download thier free product.
    cheers!

    That form won't work if you do that, I don't think. It'll open up an email program in an attempt to process the form.

    You need to use a server side language to use contact forms to email data to yourself. This means you can have a separate page that contains the code to email the form contents, and a link to the file download.

    oh thats a shame! I cannot use any scripting languages such as php as i am embedding this code into an oscommerse product description and it will not allow it.

    Are you sure i cannot sent the form data to my email address without using php etc. The code which i used was from a tutorial so i am wandering how they did!

    Thanks for your help anyway!

    You must use a server-side language such as PHP. sorry.

    ...but...

    There is one other thing you could do ....

    If there's someone you know that would be willing to process
    your form for you, using their website, and their PHP script.

    You could send the form variables to their script, the script
    sends the email, and redirects back to any URL you choose,
    which could be your product page.

    Moreover, I highly highly doubt that OSCommerce can intelligently determine that you are making the action of the form a different PHP page. Try it and see. You don't have to put the PHP code on the same page, it can be a different one.
