    I'm putting the finishing touches on a client's site, and I've got one annoying CSS bug that just won't die. In IE 5, 5.5, and 6 for Windows the bottom margin of the design's wrapper div has no bottom margin. This is despite a 40px bottom margin having been specified in the styles. The problem can be seen in action on the test site.

    I've run myself in circles trying to troubleshoot this bug. It doesn't appear in any of the other browsers I've tested. Any suggestions on how I might fix this?

    Have you tried:

    body {margin:auto 40px}

    Or maybe adding display:inline or clear:both to the div?

    Adding a margin to the body would cause my background image to stop working within the margin area. However, your suggestion -- combined with one I received in the TextDrive forum -- led me to my ultimate solution. In my IE hack file (linked with a conditional comment), I added this:

    Code:
    body { padding-bottom: 40px; }
    ...and all was right with the world. :-)

    Thanks for your help!
